•Gifts Food Items, and cash to the loyalists
The Senator representing Kwara Central, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe has reiterated his unwavering commitment to the victory of All Progressives Congress, APC, in the year 2023 general elections to dispel the rumour of him having a plan of working against the party as an expression of his grievances due to the unfavourable outcome he received from the shadow polls of the party in May this year.
Oloriegbe made the disclosure today during an hours-long interactive session he had at his Constituency Office located along Airport Road, Ilorin, with his loyalists and the representatives from his supporting groups across the fifty-two wards of the Senatorial District.
While responding to various views and opinions regarding the state of the party in each ward and how best the upcoming elections could be approached for the party to record the desired victories, he clarified that he has no issue with any candidate or party stakeholders and he remains an integral part of the party not only in the State but also at the National level.
“I want to use the gathering to not only allay your fears and dispel the rumour going around, but also to re-emphasize our commitment to the party. All Progressives Congress, APC, is our house, and I am an important stakeholder in its project beyond the state, this informs the reason why I invited you here to have first-hand information as regards the situation of things and how we can approach them to ensure victory for our party and our Presidential flagbearers, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Sen. Kashim Shettimah in the upcoming elections.
“I have never told any of you either by word or act to support any other party aside from APC. And I have never stopped you from taking part in the party’s activities except for those who chose to do by conviction. As a leader, I wouldn’t want to be autocratic about the decision of our movement, as such, I must rub minds with you whilst we take collective decisions that will be beneficial to us all. However, we remain firm on our decision as regards Asiwaju/Shettimah’s candidature due to the reasons adduceable to their capacity and competence to take the Nation to a greater height and in recompensation for the support of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to our cause as far back as 2011. Like I have been saying, it’s payback time from us to him. We have to repay his goodness to us with goodness.”
While the representatives from each group present took turns to brief the lawmaker on their plight in the hands of some party’s structure whom they alleged of victimization, harassment and alienation from the party’s activities due to their identification with Oloriegbe, he advised them not to be deterred but remain resolute, firm, and focus in the quest to deliver the mandate of the party towards achieving greater feats for the country.
The meeting concluded with the distribution of various food items and cash to the attendees to cushion the effects of the economic hardship prevalent in the country.
