Emerging from the reconcialiatory cum general meeting, the members of All Progressive Congress (APC) Kaiama Local Government have described the party as firm, united and committed to work for the party’s victory at the 2023 general election.
This was part of the resolutions of the meeting over the weekend held at the Council Secretariat, coordinated by the Kwara State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development Arc. Aliyu Muhammad Saifuddeen and attended by the TIC Chairman and his members, State House of Assembly Members and other political office holders, APC Local Government and Ward Executives, aspirants at the last primary election, party stalwarts and loyalists across the ten wards of the local government. The meeting also enjoyed the goodwill and support of the members of the National Assembly representing the Constituency and Senatorial District.
Arc. Saifuddeen in his opening address commended everyone in attendance for finding time to be part of such a very important gathering of the party and for their patience with the party under the leadership of Mallam AbduRahman AbdulRazaq.
The meeting appreciated His Excellency the Governor of Kwara State for the delivery of dividends of democracy in the areas of township roads, educational and health infrastructures. They however, expressed their concern over the deplorable conditions of the Kaiama – Kishi road and the non patronage of indigenous contractors to execute Government projects in the area.
All those who have spoken including the House of Assembly and statutory Board Members of the state, party elders, women and youth representatives, aspirants at the last primaries described the meeting as coming at the right time as it availed them the opportunity to express their feelings, they also assured the party of unwaverred loyalty towards total victory at the 2023 general elections.
The flag bearers for their parts commended their co-contestants for the show of the spirits of sportsmanship after the primary election while also appreciating members of the party for their support and spirit of tolerance thus far. All former aspirants also promised to unite and partner with the flagbearers to ensure the victory of the party at all levels; Federal, Stare and Local.
Other party stalwarts who took turns to speak all harped on the need to strengthen the unity of the party and increased membership loyalty. They further urged the leadership of the party to improve on the welfare of members in order to reaffirm and strengthen their loyalty.
Earlier in their remarks, both the TIC Chairman and the Local Government APC Chairman expressed satisfaction with the quality of attendance at the meeting and charged the members on unity of purpose to achieve an overwhelming victory both at the polls and beyond.
Members in attendance at the meeting include, Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development Arc. Aliyu Muhammad Saifuddeen, Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement Hon. Abdulsalam Atiku, member representing Kaiama/Kemanji/Wojibe Hon. Abdullahi Halidu Danbaba and that of Gwaria/Bani/Adena/Gwanabe 1 &2 Hon. Ahmed Saidu Baba.
Others are; the TIC Chairman Hon Suleiman G. Yusuf and his members, Chairman Local Government Service Commission, Alhaji Umar Danladi Shero, Board Chairman Kwara State Advertising Agency and Former Commissioner, Hon. Usman Abubakar Mora, Board member Kwara State Broadcasting Corporation and former Commissioner Hajia Aminat Ahmed, Board member Kwara State Judicial Service Commission, Hon Umar Aliyu Monde, State Chairman All Farmers Association Hon Umar Ahmed Aboki, APC Local Government and Ward Executives, former Chairmen of the Local Government Council Hon Alhassan Yahya Bagudu and Abdullahi Bata, 2022 House of Assembly aspirants Hon Tanko Mohammed, Hon Usman Zulkarnain, Hon Adamu K. Yerima and Hon Ahmed Mohammed Aboki, members of Elders Forum, women and party support groups among others.
In a related development, the local government party Chairman, his Executive and those of the wards along side the Hon Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development Arc. Aliyu Muhammad Saifuddeen, had a follow up meeting with women groups across the local government, this was in a bid to firm up the members’ commitment towards ensuring a total victory for the party at the 2023 general elections.
The meeting with the women groups which was at the instance of the party Executives was aimed at strengthening the unity of the various women support groups in the party.
Arc. Saifuddeen while addressing the women, urged them to be more united, patient and supportive of their leaders. He noted that it is only when they speak with one voice that their voices will heard and interests will be protected and taken care of as well.
The local government APC Chairman Hon. Ismaila Dio Mora for his part, commended the women for their supports and loyalty to the party, adding that the party under his leadership will continue to ensure that their interests are well protected in every activities of the party. He however urged them to be united in all that they do in support of the party, and to canvass vigorously for all candidates of the party when campaigns officially commence for 2023 elections in order to deliver the party and the candidates at the 2023 polls.
Also speaking, the local government APC Women Leader Adama Baby Mahmud, appreciated Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for raising the bar of women in leadership positions and in decision making processes of the state, noting the the only for them to reciprocate this rare gesture of the Governor is for the women to vote him for second term in office. She assured the party of their readiness for massive campaign when the embargo is lifted by INEC. Adding that henceforth, the women of the various groups will work together to avoid any kinds of rift among them.
