Osun State governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Tuesday, unveiled plans by his administration to execute road, education, and health projects estimated to gulp N159,156,392,674.20.
He disclosed that the unveiling of the new projects was in line with his commitment to expanding democratic dividends to all the nooks and crannies of the state.
Adeleke listed the road projects to include the reconstruction of the 5.1 km Ejigbo-Isoko-Aye-Oguro road at a cost of N3,018,747,965.97, and the dualisation of Odo Ori Junction-Post Office Junction-Adeeke Junction, with a spur to Oluwo Palace.“This is a 6.65-kilometer road, which will be phased into two parts at a cost of N10,421,756,647.87; rehabilitation of Ejigbo-Iwo Road, a 32-kilometer road; however, 20 kilometers will be taken as Phase 1 at the cost of N11,250,210,420.00; construction of Iragberi-Ikotun-Ara Road, an 8.5-kilometer road at the cost of N4,345,992,620.00, among others.“In the educational sector, renovation of a school hall and school pavilion at Ede High School, Ede, at the cost of N50,276,412.52; renovation of a block of four classrooms at C.A.C.
Grammar School, Ede, at the cost of N171,580,936.43; renovation of a school building at Agboran School of Science, Ede, Ede South, at the cost of N200,019,700.00; and the renovation of Oranmiyan Memorial Grammar School, Ile-Ife, at the cost of N149,546,073.60, among others.
“Complete renovation of the remaining 124 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) at the total cost of N2,763,124,364.50. The grand total is N159,156,392,674.20.“I want to reiterate that, as our standing policy, we are not borrowing a kobo for the funding of these projects.
“Our approach to funding the new infrastructure plan is to rely on state allocations from the Federation Allocation, Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), and special funds accruing from the return of funds owed to the states by the Federal Government.
“We will also be cutting waste and costs while deploying our local content policy to boost the local economy. On the local content, Osun money will continue to flow within the Osun economy. We will continue to engage our local companies, local engineers, suppliers, and artisans,” Adeleke remarked.
