On Sunday, September 1st, 2024, members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oke-Ode Ward 1 gathered to express their unwavering support for Hon. Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf and other APC candidates in the upcoming local government council elections scheduled for September 21st, 2024.

The event, held in Oke-Ode, was addressed by prominent party leaders, including Barrister Hassan Kehinde Garuba, the Pioneer State Treasurer of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kwara State and former Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government. In his speech, Barrister Garuba emphasized the importance of party unity and urged members to vote for the party’s candidates despite concerns over the imposition of the councillorship candidate in the ward.

He strongly discouraged any form of anti-party activities, urging members to rally behind Hon. Femi Yusuf for the chairmanship position and the ward’s councillorship candidate. Garuba’s call for unity was repeated by other party leaders, including the Vice-Chairman of the party in Ifelodun LGA, Prince Rasaq Owolabi, along with Shina Jejelola, Mrs. Elizabeth Arinde, Segun Luke, Saka Audu, and Fatai Sanni.

A key highlight of the meeting was the announcement of a sum of Two Hundred Thousand Naira (₦200,000) allocated to members as seed capital to establish a cooperative society. This initiative is aimed at providing members with access to funds for business activities through cooperative loans.

In addition, the Vice Chairman of the ward, Mr. Kareem Abolarin, received unanimous endorsement to serve as the Acting Chairman of the ward following the recent passing of the former Chairman, Mallam Nasiru Bello.
