The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Omupo ward, Ifelodun, Kwara State, has taken decisive action by suspending its Ward Chairman, Mr. Nasiru Ibrahim due to alleged misconduct that goes against the party’s progress and continuity in Omupo Ward. This decision is outlined in an official letter signed by the party’s executive.
The reasons for the suspension are as follows:
Misappropriation of Party Funds:The suspended Ward Chairman is accused of diverting a substantial amount of party funds from the State Party for personal use.
Embezzlement of Support Fund: He misused ₦200,000 from the support fund provided by Honourable Ismail Tijani, Honourable Representing Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal constituency intended for the development of the ward.
Disruption of Ward Meetings: The suspended Chairman unilaterally suspended ward meetings indefinitely, hindering democratic processes within Omupo Ward and preventing members from participating in essential party discussions.
Involvement in Election Failure: Collaborating with Former APC Local Government Chairman, Hon. Abdullateef Quadri, the suspended Chairman is accused of contributing to the failure of Omupo ward in the 2023 general election.
As a result of these serious allegations, the APC Omupo Ward has decided to suspend the Chairman indefinitely. Therefore Hon. Alabi Yekini has been appointed to assume the role of the new Chairman of Omupo Ward.
The party emphasizes its commitment to transparency, accountability, and fair leadership within its ranks. Further investigations will be conducted to thoroughly assess the validity of these allegations.
