Yesterday, on the 6th of January, at AGF Abdulrazaq’s villa in Surulere, Ilorin, an Islamic prayer was held for the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
The mastermind behind the program was the Governor’s brother, Alhaji AbdulRauf Baba Abdulrazaq, who called on prominent Shaykhs in Ilorin to pray for the continuity of good governance in the state and also to thank God for the successful first term of the Governor in office.
The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Basheer Solihu, led the prayer along with other prominent Shaykhs in Ilorin, such as the Imam Mallawy, Imam of Gambari, the Grand Ajanasi of Ilorin, Sheikh Dan Bornu, and others.
The program was divided into both the prayer session and the lecture session for the attendees. The lecture part was handled by three different lecturers who spoke on different topics. The first lecture was delivered by Sheikh Sulaiman Danbornu, the Mukadam Agba of Ilorin.
He spoke on the need for politicians to do good among themselves irrespective of the party they belong to and to always avoid holding grudges against each other. He emphasized that one’s good deeds will always speak for them wherever they are, even if they are no longer present, as seen in the case of AGF Abdulrazaq, where most of the people gathered were there because of him.
Sheikh Lukman Isalekoto, the second lecturer, spoke on the importance of loyalty in Islam and how politicians should make use of loyalty among each other. According to him, loyalty is a very sensitive topic in Islam, as without it, Islam wouldn’t have existed. He cited the example of how the Khaliphs were loyal to the prophet.
“The non-compromisable loyalty is seen with the prophet and Allah. You should imitate that. Politicians, the moment you are no longer loyal to your boss, you shall also be affected because governance is about teamwork,” he said.
“Remember, you are holding your position because of the people; the moment it becomes your interest, you have a problem in front of Allah.” He concluded.
Many prominent personalities were in attendance, including the Speaker of the Kwara 10th Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi, the House Leader of the 10th Kwara Assembly, Hon Oba AbdulKadri Magaji, Hon. AGF Salahuddeen of Omupo Constituency, Kwara State APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon Nafisat Buge, Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon Saadat Kawu Maddibo, Commissioner for Water resources, Hon. Usman Yunusa Lade, Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Usman Ndanusa, and Commissioner for Solid minerals, Hon. Abdulqowiyu Olododo among others.
