Even if you move with God, you will still be criticised. All prophets of God were at one point or another criticised or crucified. The only way to avoid criticism is to do nothing and be nothing. Those who do things inevitably stir up criticism.
The Dan Madami of Ilesha-Baruba, Hon. Mohammed Omar Bio, from his early crusade into politics had been a constant subject of unjust criticism. He was berated and insulted. He was denounced and lampooned as a yellow dog, a snake, skunk, stranger, bigot and every combination of unprintable cuss words in the English language.
When he completed his tenure as a council chairman in 2016, the naysayers and critics said he is finished politically. Criticism came roaring down up this “man wonder” like a rock slide. He was this and was that; too proud, arrogant, inexperienced, his political ideas were cockeyed.
It is often said that an unjust criticism is often a disguised compliment. Hon. Mohammed Omar Bio didn’t take the little jibes and javelins that hurled at him too serious. Despite him being lied about, ridiculed, double crossed, stabbed on the back and sold down the river, the man came back stronger in 2019 and eventually won election. Proving his critics wrong for attacking a child of great destiny.
According to the famous American Author, John Mason, described a critic as a “man who knows the way but can’t drive the car.” Naysayers are getting shocker on the tone Hon. Omar Bio’s name keep becoming a household name in Kwara politics and beyond. His achievements in Baruten LGA as a Council Chairman gave rise to progressive groups within Baruten and Kaiama LGAs prodded on him to contest for the seat of the federal constituency and more people (electorates) are now calling on him to declare his intention for reelection in 2023.
Unnecessary bigotry, anti-party plots and propaganda characterized the most dramatic election held in 2019. Abin Bio was announced the winner of the election. The announcement was received with jubilation by his supporters, associates and well wishers, but to some it was the saddest news they could ever received in life. His primary election victory was almost robbed. A victory that was affirmed by the Federal High Court, also upheld at Appeal Court when appealed and finally challenged at the Supreme Court, again re-affirmed the winner. He is destined to win.
God cannot be resisted. He sees the heart of men and makes His choices accordingly. Once God has spoken His word stands and it cannot be altered, resisted or aborted.
Evil prophesies, wishes and prayers were said by critics, political enemies and oppositions wishing failure to this great compatriot, bold and dogged leader.
One thing I like about the legislator is that he never fall into the vulgar mistake of dreaming that he is persecuted whenever he is contradicted.
The Dan Madamin Ilesha-Baruba surprised everyone with unprecedented achievements in less than 3 years as a member representing Baruten/Kaiama Federal constituency. He displayed mastery of the subject of legislation and came up with a new style and pattern of leadership applauded by majority of his constituents.
It’s now very clear that most people who rain abuses and criticism on the former Baruten LG Council Chairman are doing so out of envy. Envy consumes them. Why should he be a federal legislator, and I can’t be? Does he have two heads? Why should he be earning that fat pay (lol, very fat, indeed, as fat as Super Dee of Africa) and I am not the one earning it? Why should he always be in the lips of the electorates? Why is he gaining such political popularity and earning national recognition? Envy turns to malice, and they get consumed by ill will.
Also, some are after Bio for their own selfishness and others for their evils. In fact, some are threatened by his rising political profile. The heart of man is evil, and desperately wicked. If you are in any form of elevated position, they would love to see you fall. Man is in a fallen state, and the more they see you bite the dust, the happier they are.
The Late Yoruba sage and former Western Premier, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, must have had the federal lawmaker in mind when he said; “Don’t be distracted by criticism. Remember, the only taste of success some people have is when they take a bite out of you.”
In the words of Helbert Hubbard; “The final proof of greatness lies in being able to endure criticism without resentment.” Criticism is making Hon. Abin Bio better as every day breaks and he is too focused on his goals and not fear. He is too focused like a laser beam on his goals to be distracted by the noisy negatives.
Williams Gilmore Simms once said and I quote “He who throws dirt always loses ground. The dread of criticism is the death of genius.”
Criticism, like rain, should be gentle enough to nourish a man’s growth without destroying his roots. Serving Baruten/Kaiama Federal Constituency is a task that must be accomplished at all cost, In Sha Allah.
