The Kwara-based non-governmental organization, Champions’ Educational Foundation (CEF), has on 19th November 2023 unveiled the 3rd national essay competition for all undergraduate students in Nigeria.
The not-for-profit organization whose focus is on SDG4 (quality education and youth empowerment) organizes national essay competition for undergraduate as her efforts to empower youths through critical and logical reasoning contests.
The announcement of this year competition was made by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. AbdulKareem O. Ahmed through the CEF’s director of media and publicity, Mls. Ibraheem Olasunkanmi Qoseem that the submission of essay begins from the date of announcement till 20th December 2023.
This year topic is “Nigeria’s Population in 2063: Exploring The Challenges And Opportunities in Advance.” A sum of three hundred and twenty-five thousand naira (#325, 000) will be shared between the top three winners, including the induction of the ten best essayist to a one-year CEF fellowship program.
According to the Chairman,” This year’s national essay is set to examine a futuristic topic that is in line with the African agenda 2063″.
“By 2050, it is forecast that Nigeria’s population will grow to over 377 million people compared to approximately 219 million as of 2022. The increasing population comes with peculiar challenges as well as huge potential that can position the country highly among the comity of nations, especially in Africa, ” he said.
He added that organizing the national essay competition is not only to empower youths but also provide an avenue where issues of national importance are discussed whilst practicable solutions are suggested.
It is worthy to note that the participant must be an undergraduate of Nigeria higher institutions with a valid school I.D. card.
