…seeks govt aids towards developmental projects in Idofian
The newly installed Asiwaju of Idofian Kingdom, Alhaji (Dr.) Waheed Amodu Bello, has assured his commitments towards a community-driven transformative visions for the development of Idofian communities and its people, urging for Kwara state government support for developmental projects in the Idofian communities.
He spoke on Saturday, during the official conferment of hundreds of traditional titles on illustrious sons and daughters of the ancient town, marking the 1st year coronation anniversary of the Oludofian of Idofian, HRM Oba Adedamola Olarewaju (Ilufemiloye) Omikunle II.
The renowned Tax Consultant and retired Director of Tax at the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), in his speech, seeks support of the Kwara State government for transformative projects in Idofian communities.
He said, “ I take this opportunity to appeal to government at all levels and all stakeholders to support us in the following areas.
“Completion of the Kabiyesi Palace: We earnestly appeal to His Excellency to provide the necessary assistance in completing the Oludofian Palace. This structure holds immense cultural and historical significance for the Idofian community.
“Constructing a befitting and modern edifice will not only preserve our heritage but also enhance its utility for communal and ceremonial purposes. We trust the government’s commitment to promoting culture and tradition and hope for swift intervention in this regard.
“Renovation of Idofian Grammar School- We need government assistance to renovate our Secondary School and to provide basic materials and equipment for learning, teaching,research etc. The Old Students recently carried out the renovation / upgraded the library, laboratories, Administrative block, Examination/ Multipurpose Hall but more still need to be done for effective learning and academic development which we need Government support / assistance
“Renovation of the two primary schools. The IDOFIAN Community Primary School and St. John’s Anglican Primary school are due for renovation. We sincerely seek for the government assistance to renovate the schools for better academic performance by our children.
“Construction of drainages and Grading of our internal roads to facilitate movement of people and goods for better living.
“To assist in the provision of Transformer. The town has been thrown into darkness for sometime due to faulty and obsolete transformers that power the town and the residents have spent a lot to fix the faulty transformers, but all efforts proved abortive.
“It will be appreciated if the government can help to procure new transformers. This will go a long way to improve the economic activities of the town.
“Our health centres need to be renovated and upgraded. Recently, our brothers and sisters in the diaspora helped to renovate part of the hospital buildings and as well provide basic equipment and drugs. We seek further the Kwara state government intervention to improve on the structures and provide modern medical facilities for better medical care for the people.
“Lastly, the Kwara State Government should help our youths in skill and vocational training by providing basic tools and equipment and a training centre.
Dr. Waheed further urged the government to help the farmers with modern agricultural materials, equipment, seedlings, and training to enhance and promote agricultural activities, adding that it will improve their income and well-being.
The newly crowned Asiwaju of Idofian Kingdom called on the sons and daughters of the Kingdom to collaborate with the government in achieving those dreams.
“Ladies and gentlemen, further still, this vision can not be achieved by the government or one person alone. It is a collective journey that requires the collaboration of every son and daughter of the Idofian Kingdom. Let us rally behind His Royal Highness and Eminent Chiefs of this community and as we work together to bring these dreams to fruition. Let us offer our support, our ideas, and our resources to create a prosperous future for our Community and the Kwara State at large,” he expressed.
The Asiwaju of Idofian Kingdom, therefore, thanked His Excellency, the Governor of Kwara State and The Royal Highness, on behalf of all installed Chiefs, for the extraordinary honor.
“We are committed to upholding the responsibilities that come with these titles, ensuring that Kwara State and Idofian Kingdom continues to grow as a beacon of hope and progress.
“As we celebrate today, let us remember that our collective efforts define the legacy of our kingdom. Together, we shall continue to build a community that our children and grandchildren will be proud to call home.”
