The Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Council, Delta State, Dagidi Andaye, and five others have been summoned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of collecting an unapproved ₦800 million loan from a commercial bank.

The five others include Hon.Doubra Wurukeseiye, Hon. John Tome, Asu Eteku (HPM Bomadi LGA), Adibor Senior (Treasurer) and Hon. Porbeni Cletus).

Fifteen councillors of the Bomadi Legislative Arm had already submitted a petition against the chairman and the others to the EFCC’s Benin Zonal Directorate on January 14, 2026.

In the petition, the councillors alleged that the loan was obtained without legislative approval and that their signatures were forged to secure the facility.

According to them, “This act constitutes a serious breach of public trust, financial crime and undermines governance”.

They urged the EFCC to treat the petition with utmost urgency, investigate, and recover the funds as “forgery is a severe offence under the Nigerian Law.”

Impeachment proceedings against Mr Andaye are said to have commenced with a notice reportedly forwarded to the Delta State House of Assembly, the Governor’s Office, and security agencies, accusing him of financial impropriety, abuse of office, and alleged political intimidation of councillors.

But the council boss, Andaye, on Thursday described the action of the counsellors as a political game being orchestrated by their masters just to smear his reputation after emerging as the best performing local government chairman in the country last year, adding that in 2025, he commissioned over 15 projects in one day.

Quoting the local government law, Andaye said the counsellors are not to sign before a chairman can obtain a loan.

“Their signatures are not needed, if at all, there is something like that. So, it’s just a fallacy.

“It’s just out of ignorance that they are doing what they are doing and they can’t prove it anywhere.”
