In a remarkable demonstration of community service and compassion, Engr. Suleiman Rotimi Iliasu, FNSE, FNIMechE—Tayese of Jebba Land and Tadeese of Oba Land—has provided a motorised borehole to the people of Garka Community in Jebba Ward, Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State.
For years, the residents of Garka endured severe water scarcity, relying on distant and unreliable sources for their daily needs. This lack of access to clean water adversely affected their health, disrupted daily life, and hindered local development.
Engr. Iliasu’s intervention has transformed this narrative. With the commissioning of the new borehole, the community now enjoys a reliable and sustainable source of clean water. The project has not only improved health outcomes but also reduced the stress on families—especially women and children—who previously had to trek long distances in search of water.
Speaking on behalf of the community, the Association of Moro Youth Descendant expressed deep gratitude for Engr. Iliasu’s generosity and commitment to grassroots development. They described the project as “a beacon of hope” and praised his continuous efforts toward alleviating the suffering of underserved communities in Kwara State.
“This act of selfless service will have lasting benefits, such as improved health, enhanced productivity, and an overall better quality of life,” the statement read.
“We hope this noble gesture inspires other leaders, individuals, and corporate organisations to join hands with the government in advancing development across our communities.”
Engr. Suleiman Rotimi Iliasu’s intervention reaffirms the transformative power of purposeful leadership and the importance of giving back to society.
