Igbaja, Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State came to a standstill yesterday, when the campaign grand finale of Hon. Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmanship candidate held to round off the month-long campaigns.
It would be recalled that Hon. Yusuf had embarked on a month-long tour of the local government, spreading the gospel of unity and new dawn.
The campaign which saw him and his campaign train visiting 16 wards out of the 18 wards before today, was rounded off in grand style, with visitation to Amoyo, Idofian ward 2, which is the most populous ward in the local government and Igbaja, the home town of the party’s candidate.
Addressing ecstatic party faithfuls in Amoyo, the State Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), while reacting to the dismissal of the frivolous Court action instituted against the conduct of the local government election by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), described opposition party as the greatest anti-masses assemblage in the annals of Kwara State.
He said “We’re glad, God has favoured us and answered our prayers because we’re on the side of the truth., the verdict allowing the local government elections is a major victory for our party the APC.
“The outcome of the frivolous court case has once again vindicated us and confirmed the stand of our party as the only party in alignment the people and always applying the masses’ yearnings and aspirations.
“I commend all members of the APC, for keeping faith with the judiciary to do justice and that’s why we continued our campaigns undeterred because we knew justice and truth will eventually prevail.
“The best way to celebrate this victory is for all Kwarans to troop out enmasse on Saturday, September 21st, to celebrate this sweet verdict from the judiciary” he added.
Speaking in the same vein, member representing Omupo Constituency at the House of Assembly, Hon. AGF Salaudeen, described the court judgement as a vindication of the State Assembly, stressing that the Assembly will always prioritise the interest of Kwarans above primordial sentiments.
He said “Today is a special day, you elected me to go and represent you at the State House of Assembly, it was at that Assembly that the local government election processes commenced.
“We amended the KWASIEC law to smoothen the process, ironically the party that has been exhibiting false and deceitful fake cry on behalf of the LGs, has now been exposed.
“Now, God has exposed the true enemy of the local government, God used the frivolous Court case to showcase the hypocrisy of the disjointed opposition party in the State.
“They’ve until KWASIEC officially kick-started the process of conducting the local government elections, which they’ve been falsely positioning themselves as the number one advocate.
“They made a 360 degree U-turn, by cowardly running to the Court on frivolous grounds. That shows having seen their impending landslide defeat across the 16 local governments, they tried using the court case as an alibi for their obvious impending overwhelming failure come next Saturday” he added.
The party’s candidate popularly known as Kotokoto, appreciated the party faithfuls, indigene and residents of Ifelodun LG for the show of love and support throughout his campaign tour, stressing that he has intaracted with all and sundry, documented the priorities of each communities, adding that he’ll hit the ground running from his first day in office.
He however enjoined all lovers of a united Ifelodun, to not get carried away with the euphoria of the campaigns, rather they should double their mobilisation zeal to ensure the mammoth crowd that graced the campaign is translated into unprecedented votes on the election day.
Dignitaries at the campaign grand finale includes the Kwara State born Vice-Chairman, Mainland Local Government Area of Lagos State, Hon. Jubril Emilagba from Omupo, Sen. Makanjuola Ajadi, Commissioner for Housing, Dr. Segun Ogunsola, Hon. Olateju Olohungbebe, Kazeem Saheed Idowu Olomoh, Hon. Akanni Alegongo and Hon. Akeem Ayinla.
Other members of the campaign train includes; Ajiroba of Babanloma, Alh. Ibrahim Lawal, Hon. Babalola Idowu Arola, Chief Ademola Zubair, Dr. Kamil Akorede, Engr. Musbau Ogundipe, Hon. Taiwo Babatunde and Alh. Barakat Atunse among others.
