…Assures Chief Judge of Lawmakers Support
Yesterday, the Kwara State House of Assembly’s Committee on Ethics, Privileged, and Judiciary, led by Hon. AGF Salahuddeen, visited the Kwara State High Court to express condolences following the recent fire outbreak at the court complex.
AGF Salahuddeen conveyed heartfelt sympathies to Justice Abiodun Adebara, the Chief Judge of Kwara State, stating, “We are here to express our condolences and explore how the House can assist Your Lordship in recovering from this unfortunate incident, preventing future occurrences, and informing the Governor accordingly. Our involvement ensures that any regulations or budgetary considerations related to this matter are duly addressed.”
Hon Oba Abdulkadri Magaji, the House Leader and committee member, emphasized the significance of their visit, given their shared legal background. He expressed hope for the prevention of such incidents in the future and wished for continued harmonious relations among the three arms of government.
Chief Judge Justice Abiodun Adebara appreciated the proactive response of the Judiciary Committee, acknowledging the extensive damage to the court’s infrastructure. He highlighted the need for renovation, especially considering the building’s age, and requested assistance in ensuring an adequate budget provision for restoration.
As the mid-year budget review approaches, Justice Adebara sought support, mentioning a forecasted cost of approximately 100 million Naira for the renovation of the damaged building. He expressed gratitude for the visit, emphasizing its significance and the Judiciary’s need for continued support.
The attendance included Hon. AGF Salahuddeen, Hon. Oba Abdulkadri Magaji, Hon Joseph Olajire Bamigboye, Chief Registrar, and other dignitaries.
