The Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, Hadji Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, has announced plans to partner with the National Center for Agricultural Mechanization (NCAM) to empower farmers within the local government area. During an on-site visit to the NCAM center in Idofian on Monday, Hadji Femi Yusuf met with the Executive Director of NCAM, Engr. Dr. Abdulrasheed Gafar Kamal.
The chairman shared his vision to enhance food security in Ifelodun Local Government through access to agricultural machinery that will make farming easier and more productive.
“We are here to establish a partnership to empower our youth and farmers, making farming simpler in our local government and contributing to national food security,” Chairman Yusuf said. “Agriculture is a cornerstone of our work in Ifelodun, and we are committed to expanding it under our administration.”
He also outlined plans for the local government to acquire additional tractors and other machinery to boost food production, which will benefit both local consumption and revenue generation through affordable pricing.
Engr. Kamal praised the chairman’s initiative, noting that this was the first time a local government chairman had visited NCAM to explore ways to leverage its services.
“This is the first time a council chairman has come here with the intent to domesticate NCAM’s work at the local level. We truly appreciate this move, and we are ready to collaborate,” Kamal stated.
He explained that NCAM fabricate machineries specifically to support local farmers, with several states already benefiting from its equipment.
The chairman toured various units within the NCAM facility, including the Processing Machine Unit, Production Unit, Waste-to-Wealth Unit, and Greenhouse.
The Chairman was accompanied by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Nike Ajibola; Chief of Staff, Chief Ademola Zubair and Hon. Jodi Folorunsho.
