GDSS Amule Goes Digital With Oloriegbe’s Support

With the imperative need for computer literacy and digital skills, the Senator representing Kwara Central, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe has facilitated various ICT equipment to Government Day Secondary School, Amule, Ilorin, to improve the quality of teaching and learning, and equip students with technological skills.

The facilitation was said to have stemmed from the lawmaker’s desire to prepare the students for life in the technology-driven 21st century and foster an engaged learning environment to increase students’ attention and promote participatory teaching.

In his address at the handing over of the equipped room to the school management, Sen. Oloriegbe ably represented by his aide, Engr. Jimoh Ajani Olanrewaju emphasized the importance of ICT and the need for its integration into the teaching and learning process, saying that it enables the use of innovative educational resources, facilitates a more active collaboration of students and the simultaneous acquisition of technological knowledge.

“If we assess how the world is evolving today, we would notice that Information Communication Technology (ICT) is influencing our society and our educational system is rapidly becoming technology-based, as such ability to use computers effectively has become an essential part of everyone’s education.

“Having realized the need for early acquisition of ICT skills by students we thought it best to find ways to provide the necessary tools for our students to acquire the necessary computer skills that will aid them in their education.

“We hope that as we hand over these set of computers to the school today, the school management will make effective and efficient use of them in the teaching and learning process for the development of our students while also making sure that the computers are well taken care of for continuous use of students.”

The community through its chairman, Mr Suleiman Baraje appreciates the lawmaker for the laudable gesture which he said would go a long way in boosting the education standard of the students and salutes the synergy between the governor and the lawmaker, saying that their affable relationship has brought unmatched developments to their community.

“We are grateful to Sen. Oloriegbe for this kind gesture of profound impact aimed at building a productive generation of students. This impactful intervention places on us the need to again thank God who led us to elect a responsive representative and put an end to the practice of sharing peanuts at the expense of futuristic development of this nature.

Also speaking on the occasion, Ibagun ward APC chairman, Abdulrauf Adebayo expressed gratitude on behalf of the party members to the Senator for his giant strides in their ward, commending him for actualizing his campaign promises and changing the narrative of the past.

He highlighted some of the lawmaker’s projects in their ward which included; equipping the Okelele Health Center with medical equipment, donation of mother and baby kits to pregnant women, water projects amongst others.

In their separate remarks, the principals of the junior and senior section of the schools, Hajia Mariam Baqi and Hajia Ibrahim N.A respectively, applauded the senator for the gesture which they said was not the first, recalling that the school recently benefitted from instructional materials donated to some selected schools during the last empowerment program.

They promised to make effective use of the items to further engage the students in quality academic activities that will not only make them technologically savvy but also good and responsible citizens for the country.

The ICT tools handed over to the school were; desktop computers, scanners, Internet Router, Lamination Machines, Printers, Projectors, Air Conditioning, fans, generators and solar powered-kits for alternative power sources.

It will be recalled that the lawmaker recently handed over for use blocks of classrooms to Police Secondary school, Ballah, Ald-yaudeen LGEA School, Alore, and Okekere Junior Secondary School.
