Kwara State has joined the list of States in Nigeria recognized by Good Deeds Day International. Good Deeds Day is a global movement of people who are dedicated to doing good.
April 16 is Good Deeds Day but the organization just recognized Kwara State as one of the member states in Kwara. This was done at the official Launch today 20th October 2022 at Noktel Hotel Ilorin, capital of Kwara State. The Event was hosted by Bundies Care Support Initiative alongside other partners.
The Goods Deeds Day Country Director. Mr. Olutola Bamidele was in attendance. In his keynote address titled “GDD: A pillar for Sustainable Development”, he said Good Deeds Day (GDD) is a Global Day that unites people from over 100 Countries to do Good Deeds for the benefit of others and the planet Earth. Since 2007, millions of people, thousands of communities, organizations and businesses come together every year to do good deeds voluntarily. GDD is not limited to a day Celebration but has become a culture that volunteers imbibe 365 days of the year.
The Movement is the Initiative of businesswoman and philanthropist; SHARI ARISON in 2007, she thinks that if we all “think good, speak good and do good” our world will be better off and all we need is an open heart to make a positive difference to our Nation and the world in general.
Nigeria as a Nation joined the Movement in 2018 through an NGO: Glorious Child of Hope Foundation.
Since the Launch in Nigeria, it has secured a partnership with Government Ministries and agencies in various States where the network has been Launched. Many NGOs had also signed up to enhance their visibility on the global platform with the thematic areas of their various organizations.
BUNDIES CARE SUPPORT INITIATIVE and FOUNDATION FOR GENDER EMANCIPATION AND SUPPORT took part in the 2022 Good Deeds Day celebrations in Kwara State. Nigeria is currently ranked 4th position among 109 countries that Celebrated the Day in 2022.
Finally, He thanked everyone for their wrap attention and also thanked BUDDIES CARE INITIATIVE for their Launch initiative.
Bundies Care Support Initiative Executive Director Mrs. Funmi Adefila-Osiegbu who is the host thanked the Country Director for the recognition of Kwara in the organization. She also thanked participants of the program for their time and presence charging them to remain advocates of good deeds.
The events were graced by Representatives of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Kwara state Mrs. Olutoyosi Thomas, and Mr. Kehinde Akinsola who is the Kwara NGO Team Lead. The President of the Medical Women ‘s Association of Nigeria Dr. Wuraola Alatishe, President of FOMWAN Alhaja Labaika, Current Miss Africulture Halima Usman, Children from St Mary International school & Coalition of various NGOs in Kwara who Initiated the Kwara Chapter of Good Deeds Day.
