The Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, Hadji Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, has pledged his full commitment to eliminating drug and substance abuse within the local government area.
He made this declaration during a courtesy visit by the Special Assistant on Drug Abuse Prevention and Control to the Kwara State Governor, Hon Aileru Olamilekan Mikhail on Monday.
Hadji Femi Yusuf underscored the urgent need to tackle substance abuse, saying, “We will love to collaborate with you to put an end to this menace.
Ifelodun will not condone this habit.”
He expressed deep concern about the harmful effects of drug abuse on young people, stating, “The abuse of these substances has ruined the lives of many youths and jeopardized their future. Most of our youths have fallen victim to this menace, and we are deeply troubled by it. We will support the efforts of our youth-focused Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to address this issue in Kwara.”
The Special Assistant on Drug Abuse Prevention and Control, Hon. Aileru Olamilekan Mikhail, explained the state government’s grassroots strategy to combat substance abuse. “Our aim is to eliminate this menace at the grassroots level across all 16 local governments in Kwara,” he said.
He also highlighted the Governor’s initiatives, such as *#OperationGbalumo*, and other campaigns designed to curb drug abuse.
“We are ready to take sensitization and decisive action to the grassroots level. Collaborating with local councils is crucial, as they are closer to the people and can help achieve our goals effectively.” He added.
