The First Lady of Ifelodun Local Government, Hajia Fatima Yusuf, has launched the campaign for Tuberculosis sensitisation, screening exercise, and free medical treatment at the Elese of Igbaja Palace in Igbaja.
As the Ifelodun Local Government Ambassador for the Tuberculosis campaign, she engaged all stakeholders in Igbaja on Saturday.
In her address, she stressed the importance of mass participation in the ongoing Tuberculosis screening for all.
“This initiative, championed across Kwara State by the Kwara First Lady, Amb. Olufolake AbdulRahaman, aims to eliminate this deadly disease.”
“We are committed to taking the campaign to the grassroots to educate our people on the symptoms of Tuberculosis and how it can be effectively managed. Keeping it hidden can be dangerous. We urge those affected to come forward and receive free and stress-free treatment, as the disease is curable,” she said.
The Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, Hadji Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, expressed appreciation to the Kwara Governor and First Lady for prioritising the health and well-being of Kwarans. He encouraged the people of Ifelodun to visit nearby Basic Healthcare facilities for screening and free Tuberculosis treatment.
The Elese of Igbaja, HRH Oba Ahmad Babalola Awuni, speaking on behalf of traditional rulers in Ifelodun, pledged their support for the ongoing Tuberculosis screening and treatment program.
“We will mobilize our people to participate and ensure that every community benefits.
Your leadership is making a positive impact across all sectors of development in Ifelodun Local Government,” he added.
Elder Oyin Zubair appreciated the organizers and the Kwara State Government for the program, assuring that the people would take full advantage of the opportunity.
Others in attendance included the Vice Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, Hon. Nike Ajibola; Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Chief Ademola Zubair; Local Government First Lady from Kaiama, Ekiti, Moro, Ilorin East, Irepodun, Oke-Ero, Offa, Asa, and Edu; high chiefs from Igbaja, and other stakeholders.
