Hon. Aileru Olamilekan Visits NDLEA Kwara Command, Seeks Enhanced Collaboration

The Special Assistant to Kwara State Governor Drug Abuse, Prevention, and Control, Hon. Aileru Olamilekan Mukail paid a working visit to the NDLEA Kwara State Command in Ilorin. The Kwara State Government is committed to the fight against drug abuse in the state, and the visit is aimed at possible ways the Kwara State Government, and NDLEA could collaborate to combat drug abuse in the state.

During the meeting, the Special Assistant to the Governor, alongside the management of the NDLEA Kwara state command, discussed a number of areas where the two organizations could work together. These included:

Advocacy and Public Awareness Campaigns: Both the government and the agency will work together to develop and implement public awareness campaigns on the dangers of drug abuse in line with the National Drug control master plan. These campaigns would be targeted at a variety of audiences, including young people, students, artisans, parents, and community leaders.

Treatment and Rehabilitation: The NDLEA and the Kwara State Government will work together on providing treatment and rehabilitation services to people who are addicted to drugs. This would involve developing new programs and services, as well as strengthening existing ones.

Law Enforcement: The Special Assistant to Kwara State Governor and NDLEA also agreed to work together to improve law enforcement efforts against drug trafficking and abuse. This would involve intelligence sharing.

In addition to these specific areas of collaboration, the Special Assistant to the Governor and the Management of the NDLEA Kwara State Command also discussed the importance of engaging stakeholders in the fight against drug abuse. They agreed that stakeholders from all sectors of society, including government, civil society, and the private sector, need to work together to address this problem.

The meeting ended with the Special Assistant to the Governor of Kwara State on Drug Abuse Prevention and Control and the State Commander expressing their commitment to working together to combat drug abuse in Kwara State while appreciating His Excellency Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq on his commitment to a drug free Kwara. They agreed to meet regularly to discuss progress and develop new strategies.
