The ongoing construction of Gbugbu International Market project would soon be completed and ready for commissioning, to further give a boost to the revenue generation of Kwara State.
The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Honourable Lafia Aliyu Sabi disclosed this at Gbugbu, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, during an unscheduled visit to the project site.
The Commissioner disclosed that the purpose of his visit was to ascertain the level of work done and also conduct an on the spot assessment of the project.
Aliyu further disclosed that the almost completed Market would give the market the right commercial patronage, considering the quantum of economic multiplier effects when it is operational to the State and the Marketers from all far and near.
He however commended the Consultant for executing the job in accordance with specifications, there by ensuring that the standard is not compromised.
Also speaking, the Edu Local Government Transition Implementation Committee Chairman Honourable Muhammed Aliyu thanked His Excellency for ensuring the timely completion of the projects, with an assurance that necessary arrangements would be put in place to complement the giant stride of the present administration in the state.
Earlier the Consultant handling the project, Arc Femi Abogunrin of Environmentarc Consultant disclosed that the project is in three phases with the first phase at 90% completion.
Arc Abogunrin therefore affirmed that the first phase of the market comprising of 200 Open Stores and 22 Lock Up Shops among others would be delivered by the end of August, 2022 as agreed.
