The Deputy Whip of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Maryam Yusuf Aladi, spearheaded a significant empowerment program focused on enhancing the well-being of women in her Ilorin-South Constituency.

This impactful initiative featured the distribution of essential food items to widows in her jurisdiction and the provision of sewing machines to widowed artisans. The event saw the distinguished presence of community stakeholders, including KWHA Speaker Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi, Commissioner for Water Resources Hon. Usman Lade, SSA to the Governor on Community Development Hon. Dr. Lawal Olohungbe, and various members of the Kwara State House of Assembly.

Hon. Yusuf Aladi Maryam expressed gratitude to the dignitaries and acknowledged the continuous support of the people of Ilorin-South. The empowerment program included distributing food items and providing financial support of #5000 to 500 widows. Additionally, support was extended to widows engaged in fashion design through the provision of sewing machines, aimed at elevating their livelihoods.

In her address, Hon. Yusuf Aladi assured the citizens of Kwara of a continuum of impactful initiatives from her administration. She thanked Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for the entrusted opportunity and appreciated the steadfast support of Speaker Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi.

During an interview, SSA Community Intervention, Hon. Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, emphasized that the empowerment is intricately designed for socioeconomically disadvantaged segments, particularly widows. He commended Hon. Aladi’s timely intervention and urged her to persist in her laudable endeavors.

The ceremony concluded with expressions of gratitude and heartfelt prayers for the continued success of Hon. Maryam Yusuf Aladi in her public service tenure.
