
The Ifelodun Local Government under the leadership of Hadji Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, in partnership with the Kwara State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES), has successfully completed a one-day training on goat management for 500 participants across the local government held on Thursday at the Idofian Town Hall.

The programme, which covered all 18 wards of the local government, was targeted at livestock farmers to improve knowledge and productivity in goat rearing.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman said the training is part of his mission to develop the agricultural sector.

He disclosed that the local government has refurbished five old tractors, bringing the number of active tractors to seven, as part of efforts to boost food security.

“The local government has set a target to remain one of the food baskets of the nation, and we are committed to sustaining that status. We have done a lot to support crop farmers; this is now the time to support livestock farmers so that farm animals can get the nutrients they need,” he added.

The Kwara State Coordinator of L-PRES, Mr. Soji Oyawoye, applauded the local government for initiating what he described as a milestone project that will bring prosperity to livestock farmers and enhance healthy food production. He added that L-PRES has also provided a feed crusher to make feed readily available.

The Elese of Igbaja, HRH Oba Ahmed Babalola Arepo, remarked that the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has brought remarkable advancements across all sectors. He stated that the governor’s infrastructure development has touched the lives of the people of Ifelodun Local Government.

The Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Elder Kayode Alabi, who was represented by Hon. AGF Salahuddeen, member representing Omupo Constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly, commended the local government council management for their commitment to ensuring that the grassroots benefit directly from government initiatives.
He urged participants to make the best use of the opportunity provided to safeguard and promote the agricultural revolution in the local government.
