Ilorin Master Plan Committee Pray for Stakeholders Support

In a a days Technical Workshop organised by the Ilorin Master Plan Committee, the committee have asked for the support of the stakeholders in order to achieve the creation of a new master plan for Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.

Addressing the participants, Abdulmutalib Shittu, the Committee’s Chairman stated that the Ilorin Urban Master Plan will focus on all major sectors which include tourism, trade and investment, transportation, education, agriculture, health care, delivery, environment, green/open spaces, housing and sustainable development.

 

 

It was gathered that attention of speakers and participants at the workshop centred on In-Field data collection and stakeholder Engagement, Population estimates and projections, Urban and Rural conditions, Institutional Framework and Social Infrastructure as well as Economic baseline and emerging prospect for the capital city.

The Committee’s Chairman also mentioned that the ongoing design of a master plan for Ilorin will the second design, as the first design was done in 1976. He noted that the anticipated-plan will answer questions regarding growing population in Ilorin, plans for road expansion, wastage disposal/management and other aspects that make decent human living possible.

Stakeholders at the event include Artisan Congress, Baba Loja,
Community Development Council Ilorin West LGA,
Market women Oja oba (Iya loja General),
Market women ipata market, IEDPI, Manufacturers Association Nigeria, Institute of Town Planning, Nigerian Association of Engineers, Transmission Company Of Nigeria, Transport Association, Water Corporation and representatives from Ministries of Justice, Energy, Health, Enterprise, Finance & Planning and Communications.
