Earlier yesterday, dated June 15, 2023, the Igbomina National Students’ Union (INSU) Kwara State chapter celebrated her 30th anniversary on campus. However, amidst the celebration, ObaYakub Agbo-Ola Ibrahim Babalola of Elesie of Esie land prayed for all Igbomina students in Kwara State Polytechnic and other institutions across the country and advised them to face their studies and forbid bad groups on campus, adding that success is not easily achieved. “May your aims and objectives of being on campus be accomplished.”
The celebration of her 30th anniversary, held at the Rear Admiral Mohammed Alabi Lawal Auditorium, Kwarapoly with the theme; Impact of Culture on Education which the subtitle is Diversity and Multi-cultural Awareness: Panacea for Socio-economic Development of Igbomina Land and also included award presentation and fundraising for the union.
The outgoing president, Sen Adeola Adebayo Shola while giving a welcoming speech appreciated the presence of Igbomina Royal Majesty, special guests and other fellow students for giving out their time to grace the celebration of Igbomina’s 30th year.
He further urged the newly elected executives to take Igbomina National Students’ Union with a heavy hand and work together in uplifting the union on campus.
One of the Igbomina lecturers, Mrs Felicia Awolola while addressing the mammoth crowd at the hall encouraged all Igbomina Students not to hide their identity, culture and language on campus.
“I’m an Igbomina, my origin is Igbomina and also marry an Igbomina man. I’m always happy and proud of my language, In fact, I never for once regret being born from Igbomina land”, she said.
While the Vice Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Prof Noah Yusuf who was ably represented by a lecturer from the Political Science Department, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya was delivering the lecture explained the genesis of Igbomina, adding highlighted the prominent Igbomina personalities and their contribution to the development of Igbomina land.
He further recounted the challenges of the Socio-economic Development of Igbomina Land and proffer lasting solutions to overcome them all.
“The achievement of “Egbe Omo Ibile” on Socio-economic Development of Igbomina Land are the construction of Egbe Omo Ibile Igbomina House in Ganmo, the establishment of Igbomina community radio in Pamo-Isin and Bi-annual Igbomina day and others.
Dignitaries in attendance were His Royal Majesty, Oba Yakub Agbo-Ola Ibrahim Babalola, Elesie of Esie, His Royal Majesty, Oba Joseph Oyeyipo, Alaran of Aranorin, and His Royal Majesty, Oba Victor Oluwafemi Olaoye, Okoerefe of erefe, Kwarapoly Deputy Rector, Al-Hikmah VC representative, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya, Kwarapoly Igbomina indegenous lecturers and others.
