••• Dissolved Executive Council
Scores of party members, stakeholders and executive committee of the Ogidi Ward chapter of All Progressive Congress (APC) have taken a swipe at what was described as malicious, mischievous and injudicious purported suspension of the Senator representing Kwara central, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe and the Director General of his constituency office, Abdulwaheed Piri, noting that the lawmaker and his aide enjoyed the overwhelming goodwill of the people of the ward.
This is coming against the backdrop of the publication equivocating the suspension of the Senator and his aide from the ward by some ward executives who have now been accused of forgery to pave way for their divisive desire to cause disharmony and put the party in disarray.
It was a moment of refutation and affirmation of innocence as those who were beguiled with all sorts of contrivance into signing the suspension letter claimed ignorance of the purpose for which their signatures were sought.
Umpteen of those whose names were reported to have lent credence to what has now appeared as farce, narrated in their separate remarks, how dearly they hold the lawmaker for his abiding humanitarian support and responsive mien to their yearnings long before his ascension to the Senate.
Speaking to the dozens of supporters, the Welfare Secretary of the Ward, Mrs Abdulrasaq Sidikat whose signature was deceptively obtained for the publication, reported the false narrative peddled to secure their buy-ins at the emergency meeting convened to carry out the hatchet job.
” We were told that the leadership of the party at the local government level instructed that a list containing the names of the executives be drawn up to identify those who are still active in the party. This directive was conveyed with the stern warning that signature be appended by each of the executives to affirm our membership and validate our respective positions”
“It was under the smokescreen of validating our membership that we were tricked into appending signature to a list which, unbeknown to us, was mischievously designed to contrive the suspension of whom has been of great blessings to us. We are dissociating ourselves outright from the charade ”
In another revelation, a party elder, Mallam Salman Lanlorun whose signature was also secured with deceits, narrated that he was in his shop when a list containing the names of elders was brought to him and was approached to attach his signature for a pecuniary gratification from the government, claiming that he was in absolute ignorance of the real objective of the list until the news of the suspension broke out.
While conveying the resolution of the party members, the Chairman of Ogidi Ward Elders Forum, Mallam Abdulraheen Alalikinla reaffirmed their unalloyed support to Sen. Oloriegbe whom he said remains the indisputable leader of the ward and as well announced the withdrawal of the groundless suspension and outright dissolution of the executive committee of the ward.
