Islamic Group organizes Annual Zakat distribution Programme, doles out surviving items to less privileges

The Companion, an association of Muslim men in business and the professions, Kwara State District has on Sunday, dated June 18, 2023, organized the annual Zakat distribution programme. The programme, was held at Microfinance Bank, Surulere, Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, where not less than 25 less privileges received working equipment and cash to set up their own lives.

In his welcome address, the Amir of the companion, Kwara district, Alh Ismail Okunlola briefly explained how people were benefitted from 32 million shared last year, adding that 28 million has been shared to the less privileges across the companion Six district namely Lagos, kwara, Oyo, Abuja, Osun and Cross River in Nigeria.

The occasion was chaired by the Dean Faculty of Education, University of Ilorin, Prof Mudashir Yusuf, in his address, He charged the beneficiaries to use whatever was given to them very well in order to eradicate poverty among ourselves.

However, amidst the programme, the Guest Speaker, Alh Ibrahim Aliyu extensively gave a lecture on a topic, Zakat and Sadaqah: Poverty Alleviation Mechanism. He stated that the sole aim of the group is to garner Zakat from the riches annually and distribute it to the needy in order to uplift and erase poverty across the country.

The Secretary of Local Organizer Committee, Engr Ogundipe Musibau, who anchored the programme welcomed the mammoth crowd to the event, noting that their presence would go a long way in making this programme unforgettable.

 

Distribution of the items and presentation of cheque followed after the lecture. Part of the items shared were refrigerators, industrial sewing machines, printers, sewing machines, Photocopier, and cheques.

The Immediate past Amir of The Companion and permanent secretary, Ministry of Special duties, Kwara state, Arc AbdulBaki Abdulraheem appreciated the donators for giving out from what God has blessed them with to help others, praying that may their wealth never decrease.

Ach. Abdulraheem further told the beneficiaries to do well with what was given to them in order to encourage the donators to do more in the coming years.

Hajia Adeshina Hawau, the Amirat Criterion, Kwara district presented gifts to the beneficiaries and pray for them.

The occasion was graced by the National General secretary of The companion, Alh. Abdulkadri Ibrahim, members of the companion and well-wisher.
