Hon. Nafisat Musa Buge, the Honourable Commissioner for Environment in Kwara State, actively monitored the monthly environmental sanitation exercise within the Ilorin Metropolis earlier today.
The inspection began at the Ilorin Emir’s Palace and covered key locations such as Baboko, General Roundabout, Sawmill Garage, Geri Alimi Roundabout, Olorunsogo, Yebumot Roundabout, Mandate Market, and Adeta Roundabout in Ilorin, Kwara State.
During the exercise, Hon. Buge addressed residents, underscoring the importance of environmental cleanliness. She remarked,
“The government of Kwara State prioritizes the health of its citizens. We urge everyone to join hands with the government in maintaining a clean environment to ensure a hygienic and healthy state.”
At Mandate Market, the Honourable Commissioner interacted with the Association of Pepper and Tomatoes Market Traders, encouraging them to uphold cleanliness within the market premises. She pointed out the vital role traders play in fostering a hygienic atmosphere, adding that a clean environment not only promotes health but also enhances the market’s attractiveness to customers.
As part of the exercise, individuals who violated environmental sanitation rules were apprehended and promptly charged by judges stationed at various locations. This action reinforced the government’s resolve to ensure compliance with sanitation laws.
Hon. Nafisat Buge was accompanied on the inspection by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Dr. Abubakar Ayinla, Mr. Mukthar Afonja (Chairman of the Environmental Task Force Committee), and other task force officers. Together, they reviewed the progress of the sanitation exercise and encouraged residents to adopt sustainable waste management practices.
The Kwara State Government reiterates its commitment to maintaining a cleaner environment and calls on all citizens to support these initiatives for the collective good of the state.
