Yesterday, Wednesday, 16 March, 2022, on behalf of the Kwara Progressive Media Organization (KPMO) we welcomed you to this press briefing and address well-meaning and progressive Nigerians said by Usman Lade

In light of the recent solo defection of some unloyal party members from the Kwara State All Progressive Congress to a yet to be officially announced political party, we implore our teeming APC members across the State and beyond to continue to uphold the ideologies of our great party in the course of seeking for our rightful place in the party through constructive engagement with important stakeholders, and to also improve the promotion of the Government activities and party across all levels of the state.

As we are all aware, since the emergence of APC government in Kwara State, some people have turned themselves to thin gods by ascribing the success Kwarans recorded during the 2019 general elections to themselves. These people have chosen to be insincere, hypocritical and bent on creating division and crisis in the party despite all efforts put in place by both the leadership of the party at the state and National level to hear to their concerns and to provide a lasting solution and a level playing ground for all aggrieved members of the party in the State.

Their recent action is not surprising to us anyways. We have always believed that they were acting a script. There is a limit to hypocrisy which is not sustainable. No one plays opposition within the ruling party and hope to sustain that. So, it is a good thing that they have finally moved on.

However, with their unceremonious solo defection, we are assuring lovers of APC and the government of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq that there is nothing that is going to happen that will change the fortune of the defectors. They have always lost, it is in their DNA. So, they will lose again. They are moving to nothing, we will meet at the polls. We can assure you they would not even win a single ward in the entire state. Insha Allah.

We are reiterating that to the best of our knowledge, Kwara APC under the leadership of Prince Sunday Fagbemi has done its best to unite all members of the party at all levels. We at KPMO commend Prince Fagbemi for being a true peace lover. We would like to encourage him to remain steadfast in positioning the party on the right pedestal for its future victory.

At this juncture, as a structure of the All Progressives Congress (Kwara State Chapter), we seize this opportunity to urge the leadership of our party under the leadership of Prince Sunday Fagbemi and the Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, RT. Honourable Yakubu Danladi to immediately declare vacant the seat of Honourable Saheed Popoola representing Ojomu state Constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly as a matter of public importance.

The Kwara State House of Assembly must also without fear or favor effect the conditions of Section 109 Sub-Section 1(g) of the Nigeria constitution and declare the seat of Hon Saheed Popoola vacant as his reasons for defection are untenable, unconstitutional, personal and unconvincing to us as progressives members of our great party.

Saheed Popoola popular being referred to as a Radio Lawmaker earned this badge due to his commitment and dedication to his radio programmes over his primary responsibility which he was originally elected to do. This alone, is an abuse of office and a bridge of trust of the confidence repose in him by the good people of Ojomu State Constituency of the Kwara State House of Assembly.

However, ahead of the national convention of the All Progressives Congress ( APC), which has been slated for March 26, 2022, the Kwara Progressive Media Organization hereby call on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately take a strict action against his cabinet members in persons of Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Sen Gbemisola Saraki and a host of others who are major master minders of the crisis and the subsequent defection of some of the unloyal party members in the State. These people should be closely monitored for any case of perceived anti-party activities that can endangered the success of APC at the poll in 2023.

It is on this note that we remind Mr President that Kwara APC is one big family and we can not allow the selfishness of some few people who are against the progress of the state to bring the party down in order to achieve their destructive agenda.

On our own part, we sincerely commend the Executive Governor of Kwara State for being focused and resolute in his determination to deliver good governance to the good people of Kwara State amidst many unnecessary political distraction deployed to derail him from the good work he’s doing across the State. He has indeed proven to be a good leader with clear determination to take Kwara State to the next level.

Finally, we wish to appeal to the entire Kwara State APC members that we should see ourselves as a people with common dreams and aspirations for a greater Kwara that is full of love, tolerance, unity and prosperity. We have no any other state than kwara, we should therefore work to unify and strengthen our dear state in the interest of one and all. Everybody cannot lead at the same time, we should learn to support our leaders with positive inputs that will move our great party forward.
