Kwara Assembly responds swiftly to Rifun Rainstorm Disaster, Urges Relief Action

During the plenary session of the Kwara State House of Assembly on Tuesday, March 19th, 2024, Hon. Muhammad Musa Kareem (Patigi Constituency) invoked order 7 Rule 40 (1) of the House Rules to address the devastating impact of a recent rainstorm in Rifun Community, Seconded by Hon. Abolarin Ganiyu Gabriel (Ekiti Constituency), Hon. Kareem described the unprecedented rainstorm that left many households homeless and caused significant damage to properties, amounting to millions of naira in losses.

Joining the discussion, Hon. Mohammed Baba Salihu (Okuta/Yashikira) and Hon. Saba Yisa Gideon (Edu) highlighted the urgent need for assistance in Rifun Community following the disaster.

In response to the situation, the Honorable members passed resolutions urging the Governor to direct the State Emergency Management Agency to swiftly provide relief materials to the affected residents. Additionally, they called upon the State Emergency Management Agency to collaborate with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to ensure the timely delivery of emergency relief materials to the victims, aiming to alleviate their suffering.
