The Kwara State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has reaffirmed its commitment to participating in the forthcoming local government elections scheduled for September 21, 2024. This announcement was made in a press conference hosted by the state chairman, Alhaji Abdulfatai Imam Jimoh, following the misleading statements circulated online by a dismissed party member, Mr. Lamidi Isiaka, from Offa Local Government.

Alhaji Jimoh clarified that the Kwara State NNPP, under his leadership since April 4, 2024, remains verified and authenticated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWSIEC), Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), and other relevant agencies. He emphasized that the party is fully prepared for the upcoming elections and urged the public to disregard any contrary information.

Alhaji Jimoh also called on security agencies to take immediate action against Mr. Isiaka, also known as Soku, for his illegal use of the party’s logo and false representation as the State Chairman. Despite his dismissal, Mr. Isiaka has continued to mislead the public, undermining the party’s integrity.

“The NNPP remains the only better alternative to change the narratives of the horrible experiences endured in the past due to the poor performance of the previous and the present administrations. We are committed to strengthening democracy and bringing its dividends to the people at the grassroots,” Alhaji Jimoh stated.

The NNPP has seen significant interest from candidates across all 16 local government areas for both chairmanship and councilorship positions. As election day approaches, the party is urging its members and the people of Kwara State to remain focused and support the NNPP at the polls.

In his concluding remarks, Alhaji Jimoh warned Mr. Isiaka and his associates to cease their disruptive actions and avoid further tarnishing their reputations. He also called for the support of Kwara State residents to help rescue the state from the current administration’s misrule.

Mrs Folashade Aliu, NNPP DG presidential candidate in the 2023 general election also asserted during an interview with the newsmen that the perpetrator of false news is an impersonator and has been expelled from the party long ago. She added that the party has partnered with the legal forces to ensure such actions are curbed.
