Kwara Trains 1,800 Primary School Teachers in Digital Literacy, Classroom Innovation

_Education Commissioner lauds teachers, pledges continuous support and professional development_

No fewer than 1,800 primary school teachers drawn from the sixteen Local Government Areas of Kwara State are participating in a capacity-building workshop focused on digital literacy and modern teaching methods. The training kicked off on Monday at Queen Elizabeth Secondary School, Ilorin.

In his opening remarks, the State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe charged the teachers to remain committed to shaping the future of the state by equipping the next generation with the right knowledge and values.

The ten-day workshop is organised by KwaraLEARN in collaboration with the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KWSUBEB) and the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development. It is part of the state’s broader strategy to enhance education delivery by upgrading teachers’ skills to meet 21st-century standards.

Dr. Olohungbebe, who expressed his appreciation to teachers for their efforts and dedication, emphasised the state’s readiness to support their efficiency through continuous training and digital tools as part of the administration’s shift from analog to digital education systems.

“The purpose of this training is to empower our teachers to meet the challenges of the digital age. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration is committed to global best practices in education, and this workshop is one of several initiatives aimed at transforming our learning environment,” he said.

The Commissioner expressed confidence that the training would positively impact classroom performance and urged the participants to apply their new knowledge for the betterment of their pupils and the education sector at large.

In her welcome address, the Managing Director of KwaraLEARN, Mrs. Laide Abel congratulated the participants and encouraged them to remain attentive and engaged throughout the sessions to fully benefit from the programme.
