The Kwara Youth Stakeholders under the auspices of the League of Kwara Youth Leaders have said the administration led by Gov AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has laid an unforgettable legacy of progress since the inception of his administration.
Convener of the group, Comr. Akoshile Mukhtar disclosed this on Wednesday while engaging the media on the achievements of the governor tagged: Independent assessment of the programmes, policies and projects of Gov Abdulrazaq.
He said the Governor has also shown himself to be for the downtrodden in society through Establishment of Kwara State Social Investment Program (KWASSIF), which is the most extensive social investment programme in the history of Nigeria that is driven by innovative data collected over time, adding that KWASSIP remains the only State of Social Investment Programme to have components targeted specifically at the elderly, unemployed, petty traders, and children who are fed in kindergarten.
He further said Gov Abdulrazaq’s administration allows youth to contribute their own quota to the development of the state by appointing them in different sectors which has never opened in the history of the state.
“The Government of Governor Abdulrazaq has also proven to be the most youth friendly administration in the history of Kwara state, with institutional support to stimulate the economy of the state through loans to businesses, construction of the Kwara Innovation Hub among others, as well as the construction of the centre garment factory in West Amco which is ongoing. No doubt the youth have been front and center of the policies thrust of the current administration”.
“As part of the overall policy drive of creating social safety nets for the good people of Kwara state, Governor Abdulrazaq has made healthcare a major plank of his governance, with the establishment of “KwaraCare”, which offers one of the most qualitative healthcare services at some of the lowest costs in Nigeria starting from as low as 6the thousand Naira per year or hundred Naira per month. The administration LGs has also embarked on renovation and restocking of Primary Health Centers across the 16 LG’s of the state”.
“In the area of education, our governor has been without peers as he has reset the trajectory of education in the state, through the establishment of “KwaraLeam”. Kwara learn is a 360degree intervention which has seen over 50 schools being renovated across the state, the payment of counterpart funding for UBEC and international development partners for more projects to be carried out in the state. “KwaraLearn” has delivered improved learning outcomes for the children of the state, which has attracted commendation from the non-remittancery of Education, while the state has been removed from the UBEC blacklist for non-rernittance of counterpart funding. There have also been series of interventions to help build the human capital pool of the state Prompt Payment of Scholarships for Law students of Kwara descent. No doubt in no distant future Kwara will be poised to dominate, ate in the knowledge economy of the 21st century”.
“In the area of infrastructural development the administration has focused on the construction of rural roads which are helping to rejig the rural economy of the state, whereas there is the bridge in Tanke. Tipper Garage Ilorin, harnessing construction of the ICC as well as the construction of the Innovation Hub to help hamess tech talent in the state and put them to productive and developmental use. The incumbent administration has also renovated the Juvenile correctional home and the children’s reception centre to cater to that aspect of the social development of the young. The government has also ensured payment of counterpart funds for World Bank-funded community and social development projects (CSDP)”.
“No doubt the work of rebuilding Kwara and positioning the state to take advantage of the youth bulge has begun and is indeed ongoing. It is on this basis that we put our stamp of approval on the good works of our dear governor and call on all and sundry to support the programmes he has put in place for the development of our dear state. We call on the youth to ensure that saboteurs are not given room to operate and try to rob us of the benefits of the unprecedented scale of people centric policies, programmes and project leaders the state has witnessed in the last four years. We shall continue to monitor and hold leadership accountable to the people at all times”.
