The Kwara State House of Assembly has urged Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to find workable plans towards establishing modern markets for transaction of specific items and goods in different parts of the State across the Nation.

This was part of the House resolutions after a Motion on Notice titled “Need to Establish More Modern Markets Designated For Specific Goods and Services to Restore Sanity in Existing Markets in Kwara State” was considered.

The motion was raised by the House Leader, Alhaji Abubakar Olawoyin during today’s plenary expressed the feeling of unhappiness over the available markets within the Ilorin Metropolis that are already congested with distortion to the original master plan.

The contributions of other lawmakers stressed on the need for other parts of the state to benefit from the new Master Plan in the establishment of new markets to ensure fairness in resources allocation.

Reading the resolutions of the House, Speaker, Hon Yakubu Salihu pleaded to the State Governor to direct all Local Governments and Ministries to have good conversation with the Kwara State Geographic Information System in order to birth the establishment of modern markets in different parts of the state.

The speaker further called on the leadership of Market Associations to orientate their members on dangers inherent in conversion of access roads and other facilities in the markets to other uses in contravention of the Master Plans.
