The Kwara State Government has again reaffirmed her commitment to sustaining a clean and hygienic environment, with the aim of ensuring a healthy living of the people.
The State Commissioner for Environment, Mallam Shehu Ndanusa Usman gave the affirmation during the week, at the handing over ceremony of a project site, at Offa, the Headquarters of Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State.
While handing over the sight to the Contractor for the construction of a recycling plant, the Commissioner declared: “this is another landmark achievement by the current administration in Kwara State, to complement it’s efforts on waste management across the state. The project is part of the the Federal Government Intervention Program, designed to assist states in addressing challenges of waste management, through the adoption of best environmental practices and technology, which is of course expected to attract private sector partnership and would be investors”.
While appreciating the laudable projects Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq led administration has been doing across the state, to achieve an efficient waste management in the state, Ndanusa further affirmed the current political dispensation’s efforts aimed at sustaining a clean, safe and healthy Kwara for all to live in, for the benefit of the entire citizens in the state and environs.
Earlier, the representative of Federal Ministry of Environment, Hajia Zainab Yusuf had greatly commended the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the immediate approval of of the site as well as handing over of same to the contractor, to commence the construction and also thanked Offa community for the warm reception, advising them to monitor the construction of the project for quality delivery.
In his response, the Olofa of Offa, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Mufutau Gbadamosi, Ilufemiloye Esuwoye ll commended Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq for various laudable projects that Offa communities have benefited from since the inception of this administration.
“Let me use this medium to applaud our Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq for his unconditional love for Offa people, especially, for bringing another gigantic project to Offa land. We have enjoyed dividends of democracy more than our expectation no doubt. We however hope the good gesture will continue for the development of Ibolo land.” The Monarch further stated.
The Olofa of Offa who was represented by High Chief Asalofa of Offa, Alh Isiaka Shittu, reiterated the unalloyed support of Offa people to the present administration with a pledge that they will ensure thorough supervision of the project and take good ownership of the Recycling Plant when completed, for efficient utilization.
Some of the dignitaries who graced the occasion include; Transition Implementation Committee of Offa Local Government, Hon Thomas Olatundun Jare, the Representative, Federal Ministry of Environment, Hajia Zainab Yusuf, Director of Environment, Mr Abayomi Idowu and Offa community Leaders among others.
