The Senator representing Kwara Central at the National Assembly, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe has asserted that the memory of the late Governor of Kwara State, Admiral Muhammad Alabi Lawal will always be evergreen in the hearts of the people of Kwara State whom he diligently served in the 4th republic as the elected governor. This assertion was contained in a statement released to commemorate the 15th year remembrance of the first indigene of Ilorin Emirate to serve Kwara State as executive governor.

The message reads;
“Today 15th of November marks the 15th year that the world went in sombre to mourn the passage of a selfless leader, a political colossus, a shrewd administrator, a diligent public servant, a generous soul and indeed patriotic Ilorite, my boss, elder brother and associate, Admiral Muhammad Alabi Lawal of the blessed memory.

” Late Governor Lawal was such an exemplary leader in action and words. Very blunt and uncompromising in his dealings. He was such a visionary man whose mission was to give the best of service for our people; and, that was what we pursued together during our time in service, him as a governor and I as the Majority Leader of the legislative arm of the government.

“I also had the privilege of being one of his closest lieutenants till the last minutes of service. His confidence and belief in me earned me the honour of being his re-election campaign Director-General, albeit, we lost.

“What I am so sure about is that his altruistic services had earned him an indelible space in the heart of Kwarans and thus, his memory will always be evergreen.

” As we remember him specifically today, I pray to almighty Allah to continue overlooking his misdeeds, forgive him and grant him eternal rest amongst the righteous ones.
