Earlier yesterday, Hon. Kayode Oyin Zubair, Senior Special Assistant on Community Intervention to the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq hosted APC executives and political office holders of Ifelodun Local Government to a dialogue session themed “It’s time to reason together” at the NURTW hall, Airport road, Ilorin.
After the preceedings of the meeting took place, a stakeholder of Ifelodun LGA was given the floor to speak and he spoke on unity. He started his speech by explaining a little on how the name “ifelodun” was coined, which gave birth to how the local government was named. He then emphasized on the unity which the founding fathers of Ifelodun LGA had, which led to making it one of the biggest local government in kwara state.
Speaking further, he highlighted that one of the problem entrenched in ifelodun as a local government is disunity, he encouraged all to come together and form a strong force which will go a long way in building the community.
“There will always be factions during electioneering period, but we shouldn’t let it go beyond election. When it’s all done we should all come together and become one”, he concluded his statement.
The convener, Hon. Oyin Zubair, began his address by welcoming all attendees. He recalled some of his encounters with prominent leaders present which was geared towards community development and unity.
“If it takes 10 million to build peace in a community, it will definitely take 100 million to rebuild it after a dispute”.
“We shouldn’t let a just cause that brings us together get spoilt. Politics will always be centred around interest”, he stated in his speech.
In his message, he made mentioned of the 3P’s he has been working with since he assumed office. This include people, places and prosperity. “if people are developed, community would be developed which in turn share prosperity among people”, he said.
He then revealed on stage an existing people centred project which was aimed to selling consumer goods to wholesalers at the same price or less just as they buy goods at oja tuntun, ilorin. He made mention that it is located at Igbaja which was launched on the 24th of December 2021.
He went down memory lane of some of the supports he had rendered to existing businesses and also to new business ideas for the development of their community. “We will always be there to give out in support in whatever forms to business or services to aid continuous development of our society”, he concluded.
Other dignitaries present were; Hon. Lateef Quadri – Honorable representing Omupo constituency, Hon. AGF Salahudeen, Former Ifelodun Local Government Chairman, Hon. Lambaka and others.
