Delivery of the streetlights at Kaiama LGA

The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Legislative Budget and Research and MHR representing Baruten/Kaiama Federal Constituency of Kwara State, Hon. Mohammed Omar Bio, fcpa, iion, has facilitated the supply of another round of solar street lights for more communities across the Baruten/Kaiama Federal Constituency.

The supply of the solar street lights, which is now the fifth batch has, so far, covered almost all the communities of the constituency with more batches set to be delivered in no distant time.

During installation at a location in Wajibe community

Reacting to the development, the lawmaker who was represented by the DG of the Constituency Office in Kaiama, Mallam Mohammed Idris Aliyu, and the coordinating DG of the constituency (annex) office in Ilesha-Baruba, Arc. Yusuf Zakariyau Qasim, noted that the ‘Light-Up Initiative’ is geared towards providing alternative modern lamps on our major streets and strategic locations across the constituency to minimise security threats and boost commercial activities at nights, reiterating his commitment to offering the constituency a representation that is purposeful and impactful.

“Our intention on the light-up initiative is to provide lights in strategic locations across the constituency to minimise security threats and improve commercial activities at nights,” Hon. Bio said.

“We are committed to offering purposeful and impactful representation and striving to delivering more dividends of democracy to the electorates,” he added.

Installed solar-powered streetlight at a location in Darul-Salaam community

A constituent, Sheikh Tijani Atiku, from Kaiama LGA who spoke on behalf of the community, showered praises on the lawmaker for his incredible light-up initiative, stressing that the installation of solar street lights in some strategic locations has significantly enhanced the safety and well-being of their neighborhood, particularly at nights.

“I would like to, on behalf of the people of Darul-Salaam community in Kaiama LGA, express our sincere appreciation for Hon. Bio’s invaluable contribution to our community through the installation of solar street lights. His commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions is truly commendable and has significantly enhanced the safety and well-being of our neighborhood especially at night. We thank him for his dedication to improving the nightlife of our community and pray that Allah, in His infinite mercy, reward the lawmaker abundantly,” Sheikh Tijani said.

Also reacting to the gesture, the Emir of Okuta, HRH (Hon.) Idris Sero Abubakar, Kperogi Afon Totiri Serobetete II, expressed gratitude and commended the lawmaker for his efforts in making his community safe at night, noting that the initiative is environmentally friendly.

“I wish to express my sincere gratitude for the installation of solar street lights in Okuta community and environs. Hon. Bio’s commitment to sustainable and efficient solutions is truly commendable and will undoubtedly have a positive impact on our neighborhood. I thank him for your efforts in making our community safer and more environmentally friendly,” the 1st Class Monarch said.

Other representatives of other beneficiary communities who spoke during the distribution and installation expressed satisfaction over the lawmaker’s light-up initiative, stressing that the solar street lights have boosted nightlife in their respective communities and have granted their businesses more patronage at night.

The Hon. Bio’s light-up initiative which was birthed during his first term has, so far, facilitated the procurement and installation of six 500kva transformers, four 350kva transformers and over 500 solar-powered streetlights across the constituency.
