No fewer than 6000 constituents from Kwara North Senatorial District have benefited from the Mega Empowerment Scheme launched by the lawmaker representing the good and decent people of Kwara North, Distinguished Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar.
The empowerment programme was a historic event, making it the first of its kind in Kwara North Senatorial District.
Senator Sadiq during the empowerment programmes on Saturday, held in Kwara State Polytechnic Mini Stadium, Moro Local Government Area of Kwara North, noted that no fewer than 500 constituents have benefited from vocational training equipment, while cars, laptops, tricycles, motorcycles and mechanical tools, farm implements in bulk were distributed by the lawmaker for thousands of constituents.
The event had in attendance of His Excellency, President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim Lawal CON, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the Special Guest of Honour and Chief Host respectively.
Senator Sadiq thanked Almighty God for this privileged, he analysed and unfolded his achievements so far since 2019, including the bills and motions he has sponsored on the floor of the Senate, which includes the establishment of Federal College of Education in Kaiama, Federal Orthopedic Center in Patigi, Institute of Border Studies in Baruten among others. He also facilitated the drilling of over 100 boreholes, comprehensive renovation, reconstruction and supply of medical equipment and drugs to seventeen (17) primary health care centres across the five Local Government Areas in Kwara North.
Senator Sadiq in 2 years in office has been able to facilitate rehabilitation and reconstruction of about 10 roads and several box culverts and small bridges.
A few new classrooms were constructed, many were renovated and thousands of instructional materials were distributed to public schools across Kwara North
He added that he was able to assist qualified and competent Kwara North indigenes into federal government parastatals, military and paramilitary agencies.
Also, over 4000 constituents have benefitted from the free medical and surgical outreaches, facilitated the installation of several solar-powered streetlights in some selected communities in the region.
He said In his capacity he supported the security architecture and will continue to support them one of which he distributed motorcycles to community security guards and built and maintained the Ilesha-Baruba Police Station, he said he will continue to support security agencies to combat insecurity and crime in the region.
”Today is an epoch-making day in the history of Kwara North as many lives will be transformed, he encouraged beneficiaries to use the items judiciously.”
The empowerment materials distributed includes Vehicles, Laptops, Grinding Machines, Sewing Machines, Tricycles, Motorcycles, Generators, Freezers, Fridges, Fertilizers, Salt-lick, Electrical/ Mechanical tools, fish kline, fish feeds, Knapsack sprayer, shoemaking kits, bag making machine, paint production tools, among others.
Senator Sadiq said his focus in 2022 by God’s grace is to continue to pursue what will help reduce the poverty rate and promote the economy of the region.
Senator Sadiq said his primary function as a legislator is to make laws that will promote the stakes of his constituency, but he has taken it upon himself not just to make laws but to also prioritise the needs of the people in his constituency through the empowerment program as a key responsibility also in line with his campaign promises.
The Mega Empowerment is one of the biggest in the state 20 motor vehicles, 14 tricycles and 120 motorcycles were distributed. 200 grinding machines, 200 sewing machines, 40 water pumps, 50 laptops, 50 generators, 20 fridges, 50 freezers, 950 knapsack sprayer, 5000 salt-licks, 100,000 fish juvenile, 60 smoking Kline, 950 bags of Fish Feed, 600 Fertilizers, 900 Herbicides, and many more items were distributed today.
Sen. Sadiq advised the recipients to use the items for their upliftment. While appreciating the love and support he has received from the people of Kwara North Senatorial District.
