The Kwara State Commissioner for Water Resources, Usman Yunusa Lade has urged the Management of the Kwara State Water Corporation to embrace the new reality by employing new ideas to reposition the core mandate of the corporation in line with the sustainability vision of Mallam Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq.
The Commissioner stated this today during a working visit to the Kwara State Water Corporation Ilorin, to ascertain the challenges facing the corporation.
Hon Lade said that his visit is to seek their support on the new reforms intended to be carried out in the water sector across the State which is aimed at enhancing and sustaining the achievements of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq-led administration.
“Top of the policy thrust of this reform aims to enhance our achievement on water access, quality, and sustainability. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) will be introduced to monitor progress effectively. A strategic action plan will be implemented to optimize water resource management. Improved customer service and billing systems will ensure efficient service delivery and transparent financial operations, benefiting the citizens of Kwara” he added.
Lade also applauded the staff of Water Corporation on their efforts, commitment, and dedication invested in providing a quality service delivery to the people of Kwara State.
The Permanent Secretary of Water Resources, Mrs Asonibare Omolola Christiana said it is time to bring in new ideas that will improve service delivery in the water sector.
She added that the corporation is in the era of good change as the Commissioner has shown a high level of commitment and enthusiasm.
The Kwara State Water Corporation Secretary Mrs Abdulhammed Raliat appreciated the Commissioner and the management team for coming up with a sustainable plan for the Corporation.
The Head of Mechanical, Engr. Sunday Bamidele and Engr. Saidu Alao also applauded the commissioner and briefed him about some of their challenges that require urgent attention and appealed to the state government for assistance.
The Director of Personnel Finance and Supply, Alhaji AbdulGaniyu Shuiab, and Director of Water Resources and Engineering Services, Engineer Yusuf Wopa, assured the corporation that the Ministry will look into the issues raised.
