Concerned sons and daughters of Anambra State have expressed deep disappointment over the recent exchange of unguarded statements between the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, and Senator Uche Ekwunife, describing the public altercations as unnecessary, embarrassing, and unbecoming of leaders of their stature.

In an open letter signed by Oscar Obi, Esq., on behalf of the concerned citizens, Ndi Anambra lamented that the media spats have brought ridicule and needless embarrassment to the state.

They reminded both leaders that Anambra people are renowned for wisdom, decorum, and mutual respect, urging them to uphold these values in their conduct.

The letter further called on Governor Soludo to prioritize the pressing challenges confronting the state, including insecurity, infrastructural decay, declining primary healthcare, youth unemployment, and economic stagnation.

It emphasized that good governance and visible achievements should speak for any administration rather than public quarrels.

Citing the examples of Governors Peter Mbah of Enugu and Alex Otti of Abia, the letter noted that purposeful leadership and tangible results endear leaders to their people far more than media confrontations.

Senator Ekwunife was also advised to pursue her political ambitions with maturity and dignity befitting a respected representative of Ndi Anambra.

The citizens urged both political figures and indeed all actors in the state  to return to issue-based politics and focus their energy on solutions to the state’s most pressing problems: security, infrastructure, education, healthcare, youth employment, and economic growth.

Concluding the message, the letter stressed that history is recording the actions of today’s leaders, urging both parties to choose the path of peace, mutual respect, and true service to Ndi Anambra, as the dignity of the state must be placed above individual ambitions.
