Oloriegbe Equips Schools Science Labs With Equipment Worth Millions Naira

In his concerted effort to promote the teaching and learning of science subjects at the basic level, the Senator representing Kwara Central, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe has facilitated Science Laboratory Equipment worth millions of Naira to four selected public schools in Kwara Central Senatorial District.

The gesture was said to have been necessitated by the need to make learners have practical experiences which will improve them in knowledge, abilities, and develop their skills in science, innovations and technologies.

Speaking at the presentation of the equipment to the schools through Engr. Ajani Jimoh Olanrewaju, one of his aides, the senator reiterated his unswerving commitment to educational development, saying that the choice of the equipment was to complement the efforts of the state government in providing necessary educational tools to enhance learning in the area of science education.

“My representation gives priority to education and being a product of science myself, I understand how effective the teaching of practical classes would be when complemented with relevant materials, it’s on this ground that I facilitated this laboratory equipment to aid learning and make teaching more effective in our schools.

“This, among other interventions in education underscores our commitment to the cause of improving the quality of education obtained in public schools. Not long ago, we facilitated the construction of classes and distribution of instructional materials to schools within our constituency.”

Speaking further, the Senator urged the staff to make judicious use of the equipment to impart knowledge to the students.

“Our wish is to see the teachers fully utilize the laboratory equipment to impart knowledge that will improve the performance of the students in science subjects and equip them with problem-solving skills.”

He explained further that the four schools that were captured in the first phase of distribution were drawn from Ilorin West and South Local Government, assuring that the gesture would be replicated to the remaining two local governments in no distant time.

While expressing his appreciation at Ansarul Islam Secondary School, the Chairman Education Committee of Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria,
Dr Oniyangi applauded the Senator’s contributions to the development of the school, saying that the laboratory equipment was the best form of empowerment that its impacts would forever reflect in what the students become in future.

“The Senator has been very responsive to our yearnings. He has in his efforts to ensure the accreditation of the proposed Muhammed Kamalud-Deen University facilitated huge projects for the institution and to the admiration of everyone, he is always available to deploy his material means to advance the development of our course.

In their respective remarks, the principals of the benefitting Schools, appreciated the lawmaker for the gesture, describing it as timely and necessary for the effective teaching of science subjects which would in turn help in building children for a better future.

The 2-day event had several dignitaries in attendance among whom were; party stakeholders, representatives from State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and the Local Government Education Authorities.

The schools that took delivery of the equipment were; Ansarul Islam Secondary School, Oloje, Ilorin, ECWA Secondary School, Oja-Iya, Ilorin, Government Secondary School, Oke-Aluko and Government High School, Adeta, Ilorin.
