Not less than 600 needy selected across various groups and locations within Kwara State have been supported with food stuff of various kinds as part of the efforts to cushion the effect of the economic hardship and ease the Ramadan fasting for the Muslim faithfuls.
The altruistic gesture was one of the socioeconomic interventions of the wife of immediate past Kwara Central Senator, Hajia Maimunah Oloriegbe, through her charitable NGO — Matta Girls Foundation.
The food palliatives which include rice, semo, beans, garri, groundnut oil, yam flour, spaghetti and sugar in sizeable quantities were donated to the widows, aged, orphans, distressed women, students under the scholarship scheme of the foundation, and inmates at the Nigerian Correctional Service, Oke-Kura Correctional Home, Ilorin, who were also supported with other basic items.
The Comptroller of the Correctional Facility, ACP Isiaka Alabi on behalf of the management, lauded Hajia Oloriegbe for her humane feelings and uncommon love for the needy, especially the inmates under their care. He emphasized further that our society will be more prosperous and habitable with more support from well-to-do individuals like the Oloriegbes while praying to Allah (SWT) to continue to prosper the Foundation and its founder.
