President Muhammadu Buhari has on Monday, 25th October, 2021 at Presidential Villa unveiled Nigeria’s first digital currency, eNaira.
Recall that the eNaira was billed to be unveiled on October 1 but shifted due to activities on Independence Day
Present at the launch includes the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami and other officials.
According to a statement issued on the digital currency website read “eNaira is a Central Bank of Nigeria-issued digital currency that provides a unique form of money denominated in Naira.
“eNaira serves as both a medium of exchange and a store of value, offering better payment prospects in retail transactions when compared to cash payments.”
