*Gov. Abdulrazaq has done well: Oloro of Oro-Ago
The Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, Hadji Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, has called on residents of Ifelodun to participate in free hypertension and diabetes screenings, officially launched on Wednesday in Igbaja. The Chairman expressed his gratitude to the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahaman Abdulrazaq, for bringing Project 10 Million to Kwara State, which aims to screen at least 196,913 Kwarans.
According to the Chairman, “This project is not just about numbers; it represents our commitment to enhancing healthcare access across Ifelodun Local Government. People with diabetes have a higher risk of developing hypertension, as high blood sugar can damage blood vessels and increase blood pressure.”
“Routine check-ups with healthcare professionals are crucial for monitoring both conditions and preventing complications, which is why we are offering this screening free of charge,” he added.
Mrs. Owolabi Esther, Head of Health Development, urged traditional rulers and community leaders to spread the information within their communities, noting that screenings will be held at Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF) facilities across all 18 wards, as well as at selected secondary health centers within Ifelodun Local Government.
The Oloro of Oro-Ago, HRH Oba Johnson Dada, praised Gov. Abdulrazaq for prioritizing the well-being of Kwara residents, highlighting his commitment to healthcare and security. He also commended Chairman Femi Yusuf for implementing the Governor’s vision in Ifelodun.
Former Executive Chairman and Advisory Council Member in Ifelodun, Hon. Fatai Garba Labaka, expressed appreciation for Gov. Abdulrazaq’s efforts, particularly in healthcare, infrastructure, and security, emphasizing his role in fostering peace within the community.
In attendance were Vice Chairman Ifelodun LG, Hon. Nike Ajibola; Speaker of Ifelodun Legislative Council, Rt. Hon. Jimoh Garba Abubakar; Development Officer Hon. Ayanshola Benjamin; traditional rulers including the Elese of Igbaja, Oloro of Oro-Ago, Oba of Agbeku, Akuyun of Labaka-Oja, and Oba of Babanla; and Barr. Olarewaju Falola.
