“As we approach the blessed night of Lailatul Qodri, I, Honorable Sulaimon Lekan Gadaff, Aare Atunwase of Idofian land and immediate past Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq CON, NGF, urge all Muslims to utilize this sacred period to reflect on their actions and refrain from backbiting and spoiling others’ names.
As Allah says in the Quran, “O you who believe! Avoid suspicion as much (as possible): for suspicion in some cases is a sin” (Surah Al-Hujurat, 49:12). Let us heed this warning and strive to create an environment of kindness, compassion, and respect.
Backbiting and spoiling others’ names are grave sins that can lead to severe punishment from Allah. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak good or keep silent” (Hadith narrated by Abu Huraira).
As we seek Allah’s forgiveness and mercy during this blessed month, let us also make a conscious effort to guard our tongues and avoid harming others with our words.
I urge all Muslims to join me in this endeavor and make the most of the remaining days of Ramadan. Let us strive to be better versions of ourselves and create a more harmonious and compassionate community.
Ramadan Mubarak!”
