•••staffs suspends sit-down protest, to resume academic activities
The Kwara State Government has appealed to the staffs of Model Secondary School of College of Education, Ilorin to exercise patience, as the government is doing everything humanly possible to address their plight.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Press Secretary to the ministry Of Tertiary Education, Adamu Mohammed Said. “The Honorable Commissioner, Ministry of Tertiary Education, Senior Ibrahim Sulyman (Esq), stated this in his office in Ilorin the state capital while addressing the staff of the institution who staged a sit-down protest at the school.
Recall that the staffs of Model Secondary School protested non-payment of their two month salary arrears yesterday, who have however resumed academic activities in the school after the Hon. Commissioner, Senior Ibrahim Sulyman (Esq), Chairman Governing Council, Elder Reuben Iye and Acting Provost of College of Education, Ilorin Dr. Jimoh Ahmed Ayinla waded into the crisis and appealed for peace.”
The Commissioner warned those trying to mislead the public with false and malicious information through social media to cause industrial disharmony to desist from such acts; and further stressed that the state government remain committed to the welfare of the civil servants in the state.
