The president of the 8th senate; Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Saturday 12 Feb 2022, has through his foundation, ABS Foundation and in collaboration with the Unilorin Students’ Union has empowered a score of students of the university with start up and working kits.
The empowerment scheme which was in collaboration with the student union of University of Ilorin took place at the school Auditorium where students from different classes of professions and handworks were empowered with start up kits ad well as tools for their individual business.
Dr Bukola Saraki ably represented by the Director of community impact, ABS foundation; Engr Otukoko Olayinka Ibrahim while speaking with our correspondence noted that the presentation of start up kits to students will reduce the issue of unemployment in Nigeria thereby giving room for a more sustainable society for youths.
He emphasized onthe essence of the empowerment program stating that “ it is to ensure sustainability, because most students depends on white collar job.”
“This is the second of its kind that Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation will be given out kits to students of the University, if the foundation continues, the rate of unemployment in the society will reduce.” Otukoko added.
He, however, advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the equipment given to them.
Some of the equipment given to beneficiaries at the event include; sewing machine, make-up kits, Digital Camera, Laptop, Filing Machine, Hair dryer and Oven.
Meanwhile, the university vice chancellor; Prof. Sulyman Abdulkareem Age ably represented by the Dean students affairs; Dr Akanmu Alex, in his address, commend ABS Foundation for the kind gesture bestowed on their students. Dr Akanmu further advised the beneficiaries to use the equipment in a lucrative manner.
Similarly, the Student’s Union President; Senator Walliyullahi Taofeek and Some of the executives members of Unilorin student’s union, in their separate remarks appreciated ABS foundation for supporting their initiative, advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the equipments given to them.
