The Senate President, Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to improving quality health Service delivery in the country.
Senator Ahmad Lawan stated this on Saturday at the foundation laying ceremony of the Drug and Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Centre at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Budo Egba, Asa Local Government Area of Kwara.
The Senate President who stressed that the administration of President Mohammed Buhari genuinely cares about the Nigerian youths and the development of the country believes that the Neuropsychiatric Hospital facilitated by Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe will provide quality mental health care service to the victims of substance and drug abuse not only in Kwara but North Central as a whole, through the rehabilitation centre which its foundation was laid as well as providing other medical services obtainable at convention health facilities.
While thanking Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe for changing the narratives and correcting the ills of the past, he reiterated the commitment of the present administration of President Buhari to the security of lives and properties of the citizens, said the current security challenges bedevilling the country would be surmounted before the expiration of the present tenure in 2023.
Earlier, the Senator representing Kwara Central, Senator Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe disclosed that over Eight Hundred and Fifty Million Naira have been budgeted in this year’s budget to carter for the hospital’s facilities and other equipment to make it function effectively, calling on the people of Budo Egba to see the project as their personal property to guarantee its longevity.
In his remark, the Medical Director of the Hospital, Professor Issa Baba, saluted the federal government for establishing Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Budo Egba, noting, that it’s the right step in the right direction considering the abuse of substances and drugs among youth in the country.
Professor Issa believed that Senator Oloriegbe and the President of the Senate Senator Ahmad Lawan are reverting the misfortune of mental health by revolutionizing the treatment of substance use and substance use disorders in the North Central of the country with the establishment of the Hospital in Kwara State.
He pledged to use the facilities for the benefit of humanities when completed whilst asking the people of Budo Egba Community to guide the project jealously to achieve the purpose for which it was established.
In his message, the TIC Chairman of Asa Local Government, Alhaji AbdulGaniyu Saad Commended Senator Oloriegbe for his doggedness and efforts in facilitating more developmental Projects in Asa, maintaining that when the hospital is finally completed will not only render health service delivery but also improve socioeconomic activities of the host community.
