Legislative Aides in the Kwara State House of Assembly, under the banner of the SYD Grassroots Mobilization Team, converged on Sunday for an interfaith prayer session seeking divine guidance and higher leadership responsibilities for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Speaker Yakubu Danladi Salihu.

The prayer was held at the Ilorin West Charlet in Fate, the session brought together a diverse mix of Christian and Islamic clerics, local government chairmen, lawmakers, councillors, and staunch APC loyalists united in purpose: to intercede for Kwara’s leadership.

Leading the spiritual charge were prominent faith leaders including Pastor Gideon Babatunde Yekeen (CAN Chairman, Oke-Ero), Pastor Kenneth Adegoke (CAN Chairman, Ekiti), and the Chief Imam of Surulere, Alhaji Abdulquadri Abdulsalam.

Their supplications echoed a common desire: for God to sustain the peaceful synergy between the executive and legislative arms in Kwara, and elevate both AbdulRazaq and Danladi to greater leadership roles beyond their current offices.

The solemn session underscored a rare political phenomenon: a prayerful endorsement rather than a political rally. It became a symbol of how faith and governance can intersect to affirm public service rooted in results, not rhetoric.

Speaking during the event, Comrade Dada Sunday, Chief Coordinator of the SYD Team, explained that the initiative stemmed from firsthand appreciation of Speaker Danladi’s leadership style and Governor AbdulRazaq’s developmental strides.

“As legislative aides closest to the Honourable members, we witness leadership beyond the cameras. Speaker Danladi has unified a 24-member assembly without rancour, while the Governor has transformed our communities across all 193 wards.

This interfaith prayer is our own way of telling God, ‘thank you’ and asking for more grace on their behalf,” he said.

He clarified that while the team is not endorsing any specific political ambitions, their prayers reflect a collective yearning for sustained governance excellence.

“We are not here for endorsements or campaigns. We are here as Kwarans who have seen good leadership and want to commit it into the hands of the Almighty for continuation. What we have in Kwara is peace, unity, and progress and that is worth praying for.”
