The Peoples Democratic Party suffered yet another setback on Thursday as three of its members in the House of Representatives from Katsina State defected to the All Progressives Congress.
The Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, read their letters of defection during plenary in Abuja.
The lawmakers cited unresolved internal crises within the PDP as their reason for leaving the party.
Abdullahi Balarabe, representing Bakori/Danja Federal Constituency, said his decision was influenced by the “protracted crisis” within the party, which had made it difficult to operate effectively.
Similarly, Abubakar Albaba Aliyu, who represents the Batasari/Safana/Dan-Musa Federal Constituency, attributed his defection to the PDP’s “lack of cohesiveness”.
Yusuf Majigiri, representing Mashi/Dutsi Federal Constituency, said he was leaving the PDP due to what he described as “a high level of internal crisis without cure”.
The defection was witnessed by the Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda; the APC State Chairman, Muhammad Ali; and other top APC officials who were present in the chamber during the plenary.
